Required Hazardous Materials Reporting

If you are a business that stores hazardous materials on site and have not disclosed them to the CUPA, you are out of compliance and subject to penalties. 

Businesses that store specific quantities of hazardous materials in the State of California are required to disclose to the local CUPA under the Health and Safety Code Chapter 6.95. The City of Los Angeles has over 8000 facilities that disclose hazardous materials under the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS). The requirement to disclose is mandatory and includes penalties/fines for non compliance. The purpose of disclosing hazardous materials is to provide the local fire department jurisdiction with pertinent information that will be used during emergency operations and to protect the local residents.
