Business Tax Renewal
All businesses are required to file an annual tax renewal regardless of whether or not your business generated revenue for that tax year. Filing your renewals timely avoids late penalties and fees and also ensures that you can take advantage of all available tax credits and incentives. Business tax exemptions, such New Business, Small Business with global gross receipts less than $100,000, and Creative Artist require timely filing of renewals.
Police Alarm Permit
You must have an alarm permit—it’s the Law. LAPD officers handle 6,000 to 7,000 alarm calls each month, and over 90% are determined to be false alarms. Every alarm user, residential and business, can do his or her share to reduce false alarms and to help preserve police resources.
Police and Fire Permit
If you currently have a valid Fire Permit from the City of Los Angeles, you may file and submit payment for your annual permit renewal on-line using our interactive system. Please note that a credit card is required.
Tobacco Retailing
The Tobacco Retailer's Permit Ordinance [Los Angeles Municipal Code Sections 46.90 through 46.101] requires business establishments in the City of Los Angeles to obtain and maintain an annual Tobacco Retailer's Permit for each fixed location where tobacco, tobacco products or tobacco paraphernalia are sold. The Office of Finance is responsible for processing applications and issuing Tobacco Retailer's permits. Permits are issued annually and are valid through December 31. The City Attorney's Office is responsible for investigating and prosecuting tobacco retailers who fail to obtain and maintain a permit and for conducting compliance checks that may be necessary in the investigation of tobacco retailers.
